Alignment of human PTP domains
This alignment is color coded according to amino acid sequence conservation. It comprises 49 human PTP domains derived from 37 proteins. The alignment has been guided by structural information and optimized by hand.

Sequence logos
Domain-specific features detected by comparison of D1 and D2 domains. The
Sequence Logos were generated by submitting
62
aligned tandem domain RPTPs to the
Blocks server.
Only RPTPs with both D1 and D2 (full-length) sequences available were compared.
See Methods 2004 for details.

Alignment of human, worm and fly PTP domains (excl. D2 domains)
This alignment supports our definition of orthologous relationships among
human, fly and worm PTPs (published in Andersen et al. Methods 2004). It
comprises known human (38) and fly (16) PTPs as well as a select number of worm
PTP domains (7), but does not include D2 domains.

Alignment of human, worm and fly PTP domains (incl. D2 domains)
This alignment supports our definition of orthologous relationships among
human, fly and worm PTPs (published in Andersen et al. Methods 2004). It
contains 79 PTP domains including 18 D2 domains. In the
search & tool section
these pre-aligned sequences are used as template for our PTP subtype
classification tool.

Alignment of vertebrate PTP domains (195 sequences)
This alignment is color coded according to amino acid sequence conservation. It comprises 135 PTP ‘Catalytic Domains’ (D1) and 60 Domains (D2) from tandem domain RPTPs. It has been updated from the original alignment of 151 sequences published in Andersen et al MCB 2001.

Original alignment of vertebrate PTP domains (151 sequences)
This alignment is color coded according to amino acid sequence conservation. It comprises 151 PTP domains from 113 proteins. This alignment formed the basis of our original subdivision of the PTP family (Andersen et al. MCB
2001) and has been kept for ‘historical’ reasons.
